Tennis Champ Mayar Sherif Makes Career First With Top Five Victory

Tennis champion Mayar Sherif has just hit a milestone with her win over Caroline Garcia, who is placed 5th worldwide under the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, at the 2023 Madrid Open. The Egyptian athlete, currently ranked 59th in the world, delivered a commanding performance in the 32nd round of the singles competition, marking the first ‘top five’ win in her career.

With this victory under her belt, Sherif now moves on to the next round, where she will face off against Belgium's Elise Mertens, who is currently ranked 29th.
