The Ocean Race to Sail Through Red Sea at AMAALA in 2027
AMAALA will host The Ocean Race’s grand finale for the first time, promoting marine health and sustainability in the Red Sea.
Red Sea Global (RSG) has announced that AMAALA, its new sport and wellness destination, will host the finish of the Ocean Race sailing competition for the first time in the summer of 2027. This event - part of a fully crewed, offshore sailing race around the world - is known for being a rigorous test of team performance, and has received accolades for its focus on ocean health.
“Sailing has been at the heart of life along the Red Sea for centuries. Now it is set to host the grand finale of sailing's greatest round-the-world challenge,” John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global, said.
The race will start in January 2027 from Alicante, Spain, featuring multiple stopovers before reaching the Red Sea. The collaboration will include ocean science initiatives and educational programs for youth, with the aim of positively impacting local ecosystems and inspiring future generations of sailors.
