UK's University of Strathclyde to Open Branch in Riyadh
With approximately 30,000 students from over 140 countries, the institution works across multiple disciplines, particularly business and engineering.

The Saudi Cabinet has approved the establishment of a branch of the UK’s University of Strathclyde in Riyadh, positioning the institution to support local talent and help meet the kingdom’s evolving workforce needs.
Founded in 1796 in Glasgow, the University of Strathclyde is known for its strong emphasis on applied research and industry-linked education. With approximately 30,000 students from over 140 countries, the institution works across multiple disciplines, particularly business and engineering.
The move follows broader reforms in the kingdom’s education sector. Since 2024, the Ministry of Education has issued 199 licences to international education entities, indicating rising interest among global universities to establish operations in Saudi Arabia.
A key player in this expansion is the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, in partnership with the ministries of Education and Investment, which continues to attract leading global institutions to enhance both academic quality and economic competitiveness in the capital.
