Fireworks Will Be Banned in Public Gardens During Eid
Authorities in Egypt are stepping up enforcement to confiscate fireworks from shops and public spaces ahead of Eid Al Fitr.
Authorities in Egypt have issued directives to confiscate fireworks from shops and public spaces ahead of Eid Al Fitr 2026, with enforcement campaigns set to take place across all governorates during the holiday period.
The measures were announced by the Ministry of Local Development and the Ministry of Environment, which instructed inspection teams to carry out monitoring campaigns targeting retail outlets and public areas where fireworks are sold or used.
The directive cites safety risks, particularly for children, as well as disturbances caused in residential areas. Inspection efforts will be conducted across Egypt’s 27 governorates, with operations rooms activated and linked through a unified control network to ensure rapid coordination and response during the Eid period.
The enforcement campaign forms part of broader preparations for the holiday. Authorities are extending the government’s Ahlan Ramadan fairs through the Eid period to provide meat and essential goods at reduced prices while monitoring markets to prevent hoarding.
Additional readiness measures include technical inspections of amusement rides to verify structural safety, maintenance work in public gardens, and upgrades to roads leading to parks, including improved lighting. Some major parks will open free of charge or at nominal fees during the holiday.
Authorities will also monitor river outings along the Nile by reviewing boat licences and passenger capacities to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Medical teams and ambulances will be stationed near major gathering areas such as Giza, Al Orman, and the International Gardens to provide rapid assistance if needed.
