USD 11 Billion Wind Farm to Begin Construction in Egypt in 2024
With a production capacity of 10 gigawatts, the wind farm is expected to be one of the largest in the world.

By 2030, Egypt will house one of the largest wind farms in the world, worth USD 11 billion in investments.
The project will be implemented by a consortium including Abu Dhabi’s Future Energy Company Masdar and Infinity Power Holding, Egypt’s Hassan Allam Utilities and Infinity. Construction of the wind farm is expected to begin in 2024. The wind farm will have a production capacity of 10 gigawatts.
The energy will be sold to the Egyptian government, which may then export a portion of it to Europe, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Libya. The companies are expected to secure land for this project by the end of 2022, with two locations in the Western Desert currently being looked at: one in Aswan, and the other near Minya.
Both locations have wind speeds of up to 10 metres per second, making them ideal for wind farm construction.
