Uber Announces 8% Increase on Ride Prices in Cairo & Alexandria

Following the nationally announced increase in fuel prices on July 25th, 2024, ride hailing company Uber Egypt announced a further increase of 8% in ride prices in Cairo and Alexandria. This raises the overall average increase rate on Uber rides to 15%.

The announcement came in the form of a message to their drivers, commonly referred to as ‘captains’, in which the company expressed that “they are keen to provide you with the best driving experience on our platform, help improve profit opportunities for driver companies, and ensure the continued movement of millions of passengers around cities without pressure.”
