United Nations Ranks Saudi Arabia 4th in Digital Services

The United Nations has ranked Saudi Arabia fourth globally in the E-Government Development Index 2024 (EGDI), marking a 25-place leap. The Kingdom ranked first in the region, second amongst G20 countries, and the seventh in e-participation. Riyadh also ranked third amongst 193 global cities.

The EGDI, issued every two years, measures the quality and accessibility of online government services, digital infrastructure and public engagement across UN member states, and is considered one the most important international indicators.

The UN report attributes this progress to Saudi Vision 2030 which has driven investments in digital transformation. The Kingdom advanced 67 ranks in the Electronics Services Index (OSI), reaching fourth place, and showed improvements in the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII), climbing 53 places. Saudi Arabia also rose 31 ranks in The Human Capital Index (HCI).
