Universal Studios Considers Saudi Arabia for Future Theme Park
Universal Studios is in early concept talks for a potential theme park in Saudi Arabia, with Qiddiya under consideration.
Universal Studios is in the early planning stages of a potential theme park development in Saudi Arabia, with Qiddiya being considered as a possible location. The comments were made by Brian Roberts, Chief Executive of Comcast, during an investment conference visit to Qiddiya.
Roberts said that Universal Studios is currently conducting initial concept work for a Saudi park, stressing that the project has not yet been finalised or moved into construction. He noted that Qiddiya could host the development, though no agreement has been completed. Any future park would likely be financed by a Saudi government-backed entity under a licensing arrangement with Universal Studios.
Universal operates theme parks in Orlando, Los Angeles, Singapore, Beijing and Osaka, and is assessing what could be a multibillion-dollar project in the Kingdom. If approved, the development would likely not open until the 2030s. In May, Universal expanded its global footprint with the opening of Epic Universe in Orlando.
