University Students Now Required to Do 30 Minutes of Sports Daily
The Ministry of Education’s ‘100 Days of Sports’ initiative will involve at least 50 universities and 500,000 students.
As part of the nationwide ‘Learn with Health’ initiative, the Minister of Education is directing public universities to participate in an initiative called ‘100 Days of Sports’.
Starting September 20th, which marks International Day of University Sports and the beginning of the new academic year, the initiative allocates 30 minutes to sports and various activities every day. It aims to involve at least 50 universities with around 10,000 male and female students in each participating university, totaling 500,000 students.
Additionally, the Ministry of Higher Education will participate in the ‘Learn with Health’ program to assess the physical fitness of all new university students, estimated at around 650,000 students, by involving university hospitals and student hospitals. The initiative aims to conduct a field study on physical fitness and use the results to improve students' fitness and overall health through health education, guidance, and clinical advice based on accurate assessment. If successful for first-year students, the concept will gradually be extended to students in other university years.
