Palm Hills Takes Cairo Food Week East With Michelin-Starred Bettioui

At Palm Hills Katameya, Cairo Food Week arrived on the east side of the city with hamachi, foie gras, lobster and a rather significant change of address.

Michelin-starred German-Moroccan chef Fayçal Bettioui took over The Live Kitchen, operated by SAGE, for a dinner that moved from hamachi with daikon and tomato dashi to foie gras with baked Granny Smith apple, lobster with carrot, citrus and bisque, cod with celery and yuzu beurre blanc, and beef with potato and veal jus.

The location was part of the story. For several editions, Palm Hills’ relationship with Cairo Food Week had been firmly rooted in West Cairo. In 2026, it crossed the city.Palm Hills returned as West District Partner for the fourth edition of Flavor Republic’s ten-day citywide programme, while expanding its footprint across Palm Central, Palm Hills Katameya and The Glass House at Palm Hills One. It offered a particularly tangible interpretation of the developer’s proposition that it is “changing the living experience” in Egypt: treating restaurants, hospitality and places to gather not simply as amenities attached to residential communities, but as part of how those communities are actually inhabited.

Palm Central remained the established western anchor. Scalini, Izakaya and Mamina’s opened their kitchens to visiting international chefs, continuing Cairo Food Week’s collaborative model of placing visiting cooks alongside the restaurants and teams already feeding the city.Palm Hills Katameya, however, represented the more consequential geographical shift. Bringing Bettioui into the SAGE-operated Live Kitchen extended a CFW partnership historically associated with Palm Hills’ western communities into East Cairo, with international culinary talent becoming part of the social life of another Palm Hills address.

The Glass House at Palm Hills One extended the idea again. Conceived not simply as an event venue but as an expression of Palm Hills One itself, the glass-walled space turned the development’s architecture, views and social setting into the backdrop for a Cairo Food Week reception.Together, the programme made Palm Hills’ claim of “changing the living experience” rather more literal. A residential address was also somewhere to eat, gather and encounter a visiting Michelin-starred chef; and a Cairo Food Week partnership once concentrated in the west now stretched across both sides of the capital.

This year, bringing Cairo Food Week west was no longer the whole story. Palm Hills was taking it east, too.
