Sugar, Vice & Everything Nice: Cairo’s Latest Cloud Bakery The 8th Sin
At Cairo’s latest cloud bakery, you can have your cake (or cookie) and eat it.

Ever felt guilty about satisfying that sweet tooth craving? You shouldn’t, says Kholoud Ashraf, co-founder of The 8th Sin. “We flipped the concept,” Ashraf explains. “Instead of guilt, we turned it into pleasure - because dessert shouldn’t feel like a sin, it should feel like a reward.”
With the quiet return of diet culture and ‘intuitive eating’ fads casting guilt on even the most innocent of sweet treats, the message behind The 8th Sin feels more relevant than ever.
Blending high quality and fresh ingredients with uncompromising commitment to design and flavour, The 8th Sin is quickly becoming one of the go-to digital destinations for those sweet treat cravings. Nothing on the menu is random; Ashraf spent years testing every single item, sourcing the freshest of ingredients and curating a menu and aesthetic that would tempt even the most savoury of tastes.
“I poured my heart into every recipe, tweaking, adjusting, and perfecting until both the taste and the look were just right. Because for us, it’s not just about flavour, it’s about the full experience. And yes, we believe the eyes eat first.”
Indeed, the first taste comes before cookies have even been ordered. The 8th Sin’s digital presence is a feast for the eyes. As food stylist and animation director respectively, co-founders, Kholoud Ashraf and Ahmed Taaeb brought their media and advertising expertise to The 8th Sin. But, the visual design of their culinary love child not only informed their creative journey, it defined it.
“We actually rebranded four times with different agencies until we finally found the right direction,” Ashraf tells me. “After long, in depth conversations, they helped us bring our vision to life in the way we truly imagined it. Every detail, from the tone to the visuals, was carefully crafted to reflect who we are and what The 8th Sin stands for.”
In fact, the delivery-only nature of The 8th Sin stands a testament to its continued commitment to quality and innovation. The cloud bakery model provides the ideal framework to ensure fresh, high-quality desserts with speed and flexibility. But to the founders of The 8th Sin, being a cloud kitchen is more than just pragmatism.
“I wanted to focus on the product itself rather than a physical space. A cloud bakery gives us the freedom to be creative, experiment, and connect with customers online, while delivering straight to their doors.”
Cairo’s latest cloud bakery is for those who know how to indulge, those who want all the style, and all the substance too. Contrary to common creed, at The 8th Sin, you can have your cake and eat it.
