Ali Ali’s Debut Film ‘Smokey Eyes’ Now Streaming on Vimeo

Following its festival run, Ali Ali’s short film 'Smokey Eyes' is now streaming on Vimeo. Starring Marwan Moussa and Nancy Ali, it follows a date gone wrong as the couple drives across Cairo. Inspired by his sister’s true story, the film points to everyday pressures that shape young people’s lives in the city, from the policing of “immorality” to religious tensions and the limits placed on women’s freedom.

The film marks the director’s short film debut, after a career in advertising and commercial directing. It premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival and also screened at the Amman International Film Festival.
