Dubai International Film Festival to Return in December 2027
The revived festival will return on December 8th with a renewed focus on Arab cinema and Dubai’s film and TV production sector.
Dubai International Film Festival will return on December 8th, 2027, nearly a decade after its last edition.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, announced the revival during the Arab Media Summit. The new format is expected to place greater emphasis on Arab cinema while also supporting Dubai’s ambitions as a film and television production hub.
Launched in 2004, the festival last took place in December 2017 before being shuttered the following year. Its final edition featured 18 Arab feature films, more than a third of them world premieres, alongside regional premieres of international titles including ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, which closed the festival.
That edition also hosted delegations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Golden Globes, underscoring the festival’s international reach at the time.
