Karim El Shennawy’s Award-Winning ‘Daye’ to Premiere on Shahid
An albino Nubian boy's extraordinary voice sparks a family road trip from Aswan to Cairo. 'Daye' is coming to Shahid on May 27th.
Karim El Shennawy’s ‘Daye: The Tale of Daye’s Family’ is set to begin streaming on Shahid starting May 27th following an award-winning festival run across regional and international film events.
The Egyptian-Saudi film follows a young Nubian boy with albinism named Daye and his family as they travel from Aswan to Cairo after he receives an opportunity to audition for ‘The Voice’.
Structured as a road film, the story traces the family’s journey across more than 900 kilometres while exploring the social and personal challenges encountered along the way.
The film arrives on Shahid after receiving the Golden Horizon Award, the top prize at the Hollywood Arab Film Festival, where it also won Best Director, Best Screenwriting and a Special Jury Prize for actress Islam Mubarak.
Additional awards included Best Director, Best Feature Film and Best Actress for Islam Mubarak at the Baghdad International Film Festival, alongside another Best Actress award for Mubarak at the Port Said Film Festival.
