Aswan’s Toshka Is Getting a USD 120 Million Logistics Zone

A tender is being prepared for a 1 million square metre site in Toshka, Aswan, to establish, manage and operate a specialised logistics zone with investments estimated at up to USD 120 million.

According to government sources cited by Al Borsa News, the project is being overseen by the General Authority for Land and Dry Ports and Logistics Zones, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Transport.

The authority is seeking companies specialising in logistics services linked to agriculture and agro-processing, reflecting Toshka's growing role in Egypt's land reclamation efforts.

Plans for the zone include large-scale refrigerated and freezing warehouses for strategic crops, fruits and vegetables destined for export or local markets, as well as advanced grain and cereal silos.

Sorting, grading, packing and packaging centres built to international standards are also planned, alongside container and truck yards aimed at facilitating trade with African markets through the nearby Qustul and Arqin border crossings with Sudan.

The zone is intended to function as a dry port and international logistics centre for transhipment, unloading and distribution. Supporting infrastructure will include truck maintenance workshops, fuel stations and bonded warehouses to allow customs procedures to be completed away from seaports.

Government sources also indicated that the project could host value-added and light industrial activities connected to agriculture, including the assembly of agricultural equipment and irrigation systems, the final packaging of fertilisers and agricultural chemicals, and the recycling of agricultural waste into animal feed or clean energy sources.

Interested companies have been asked to submit expressions of interest detailing their experience and technical and administrative capabilities by the end of October.
