Villa Hegra Launches Cinema Club With Two AlUla Workshops

Villa Hegra in AlUla has launched a new Cinema Club, beginning with two public workshops on October 24th and 31st, 2026. Developed with Forum des images and TUMO Paris, the programme is open to both cinema enthusiasts and first-time participants.

The first session, ‘A World Within a Frame’, will take place on October 24th and focus on the visual language associated with filmmaker Wes Anderson. Participants will look at symmetry, colour palettes and character-led storytelling through film clips, visual exercises and creative challenges, before applying those techniques to familiar locations in AlUla.

The second workshop, ‘From Silent to Streaming’, will run on October 31st and trace changes in filmmaking from the silent era to contemporary digital production. The session will cover shifts in acting styles, the arrival of sound, special effects and the development of computer-generated imagery.

Selected work produced during the workshops will be presented during Villa Hegra’s Inauguration Evening. The Cinema Club is expected to continue as part of the venue’s regular cultural programme.

Located in AlUla’s Al-Sukhayrat district, Villa Hegra is a Saudi-French cultural space that hosts exhibitions, performances, workshops and film screenings.
