Egypt Spends USD 5.9 Million to Replace Obsolete Petrol-Powered Cars

Alright all you petrol-guzzling vehicles out there, it's time to hit the road. Egypt has spent USD 5.9 million, or EGP 92.8 million, as green incentives for people to replace their obsolete petrol-powered vehicles with ones that run on natural gas. As part of the national 'Go Green' initiative, Egypt has replaced 4,127 cars and taxis since April, received 31,000 requests to replace cars as of mid-August, and scrapped 4,701 cars in that time.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Finance has concluded a public bidding procedure that will allow Egypt to remove cars from scrap yards across a number of governorates - namely Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Red Sea and Suez - in order to dispose them in an environmentally conscious manner, with the components to be repurposed across multiple industries.
