Red Bull Athlete Performs World's Highest Skydive-to-Surf Jump

Red Bull athlete Sebastian Álvarez has made history by executing the world’s first and highest skydive-to-surf jump at Surf Abu Dhabi. The jump saw the extreme sports athlete leap from a Bell 212 helicopter at 3,657 metres and ride a modified surfboard before landing on a 2.3-metre man-made wave.

“It’s incredibly special to perform this project here in Abu Dhabi. I consider this technology, the wave, as one of the most amazing things that humans have created,” said Sebastian Álvarez following his record-breaking jump. “Achieving this today means the world to me. It has felt like entering into the unknown, doing something that nobody has ever attempted to do before. It really is a dream come true.”

The jump was organized to showcase Surf Abu Dhabi, the world’s newest and largest man-made wave facility, featuring the longest ride, the largest barrel and the highest man-made wave.

With Surf Abu Dhabi gearing up to host the 2025 Surf Championship Tour and the 2024 World Surf League Longboard Tour, surf enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing elite competitions in the region for the first time.
