5,000 Heat Relief Kits Distributed to Delivery Riders Across Dubai

Delivery riders in Dubai will receive 5,000 heat relief kits throughout August as part of a campaign to reduce heat-related risks during the peak summer months.

Launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with Keeta, the Safe and Healthy Summer for Delivery Riders campaign combines health screenings, safety awareness sessions and the distribution of protective supplies, including cooling towels and hand fans, to help riders cope with high temperatures.

The RTA said delivery riders face increased health risks during the summer because of extreme heat and humidity. Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Director of Traffic at the Traffic and Roads Agency, urged riders to stay hydrated, take regular rest breaks and use appropriate protective equipment. Citing the World Health Organization, the authority noted that losing as little as 2% of body fluids can impair concentration, reaction times and decision-making, while prolonged exposure to heat increases the risk of heat exhaustion.

The campaign forms part of the Summer Without Accidents initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior. Keeta is sponsoring the 5,000 health kits, while Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar) and Protectol Health are supplying additional health and protective products.

The RTA said its year-round awareness programmes currently reach more than 70,000 delivery riders across Dubai. During 2025, it organised more than 120 field awareness activities benefiting over 17,000 riders, while safety messages distributed through media and digital channels reached more than 50,000 riders. The authority added that fatalities involving delivery motorcycles fell from 35 in 2024 to 33 in 2025, despite continued growth in the number of riders and delivery companies operating in the emirate.
