60% Cut Applied to UAE School Bus Fees for April

A 60% reduction has been applied to school bus fees for April in the UAE, as transport services adjust to weeks of remote learning and staggered school reopenings. Schools Transport Services said the pricing reflects reduced service levels during a seven-week period when buses were not in use, with operations now resuming in line with each school’s return to in-person learning from April 20th and varying attendance patterns.
In a message to parents, the company confirmed that transport services have resumed, with fleets, staff and operational systems in place to support the return to on-site schooling. It said the April adjustment reflects a pro rata approach aligned with actual service delivery during the period.
Any transport fees already paid in advance will be credited against future invoices, with adjustments communicated through schools and service teams. Chief Executive Officer Steve Burnell said school transport operates as an annual service tied to the academic calendar rather than a daily usage model, with pricing adjustments applied where service levels change.
The company said fluctuating demand during the transition back to in-person learning has affected route planning and capacity, with services being scaled accordingly while maintaining safety and operational standards.
Schools Transport Services currently serves around 120,000 students across 96 schools, operating a fleet of approximately 4,000 buses across the UAE.
