AI Speech-to-Text System for Egyptian Courts Launches October 1st

The Justice Ministry will launch an artificial intelligence speech-to-text system supporting Egyptian dialects in courts on October 1st, allowing spoken proceedings to be transcribed digitally as part of a wider push to modernise judicial services.

Justice Minister Mahmoud El-Sherif outlined the system during a visit to Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, where he reviewed technologies being considered for Justice City in the New Capital and discussed cooperation on the transition towards a fully digital judicial system. Talks covered data centres and cloud computing for hosting ministry applications, as well as a shared platform for data used by judicial authorities.

El-Sherif also visited the Shenzhen Digital Court to examine the use of AI in civil cases, including legal-assistance tools, document analysis and access to relevant previous cases. He presented existing work on digitising criminal courts and remote litigation, while officials from both sides discussed applying further digital technologies at Justice City and courts across the country.
