Abu Dhabi Government to Train 23,000 Employees in AI by 2027

The Abu Dhabi Government will train around 23,000 employees in artificial intelligence by early 2027 through AiNative, a new learning platform developed with OpenAI, Microsoft and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. Unveiled at AI Everything Abu Dhabi, the programme is designed to help government staff use AI tools in daily work while understanding what information can and cannot be shared with them.

OpenAI is curating training around AI skills and tools, Microsoft is supporting learning related to Copilot, while Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence is helping develop personalised one-to-one sessions. Training will begin with foundational and executive-level programmes before expanding into specialised tracks for areas including tax, procurement, legal and finance. Examples include using AI for workforce planning in human resources and contract drafting in legal teams, alongside guidance on handling sensitive government data.

The platform follows a pilot across several government entities and is now being rolled out more widely, with plans to eventually open access to the public through UAE Pass. The programme forms part of Abu Dhabi’s wider digital strategy, which includes plans to deploy more than 200 AI solutions and invest AED 13 billion between 2025 and 2027, alongside the rollout of Microsoft 365 Copilot licences across government entities.
