Abu Dhabi Green Bus Fleet Exceeds 1.3 Million Kilometres

The Integrated Transport Centre in Abu Dhabi has reported that its green bus fleet has exceeded 1.3 million environmentally friendly kilometres since its launch in 2024. The fleet, which operates under the Department of Municipalities and Transport, includes buses powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology and electric energy, forming part of the emirate’s transition toward a low-emission public transport system.
Alongside the fleet’s expansion, the authority has introduced additional sustainability initiatives, including a Public Transport to Work programme aimed at encouraging employees to use public bus services for daily commuting.
The initiative was launched during World Public Transport Day, organised by the International Association of Public Transport, and is intended to reduce traffic congestion, lower emissions and promote sustainable mobility patterns.
