UAE Retailers Offer Up to 70% Discounts Ahead of School Return

Retailers across the United Arab Emirates are offering discounts of up to 70% on back-to-school products as in-person classes resume on April 20th following a suspension that began on February 28th. Major retailers said supplies of school essentials remain stable despite supply chain challenges linked to the regional situation, with campaigns launched across supermarkets and online platforms.
Sharjah Cooperative said its promotion includes discounts of up to 70% on more than 200 items, noting increased purchasing activity as families prepare for the new term. The retailer reported a trend toward bulk buying of multipacks and essential supplies. Union Coop said it is offering discounts of up to 50% across more than 400 products, adding that stock levels are sufficient to meet seasonal demand.
Al Maya Group said its supermarkets and Borders stores are fully stocked with school supplies, while Lulu Hypermarket reported strong demand for items such as lunch boxes, water bottles and accessories. Lulu added that it has introduced dedicated back-to-school sections, alongside in-store and online promotions, including bundled offers and bank-related discounts.
Other retailers, including Carrefour, Nesto and Amazon, have also launched seasonal campaigns. Retailers said demand this year may be more moderate compared to previous seasons, as many families remained in the country during the summer period and may have already completed part of their back-to-school shopping.
