Abu Dhabi Sets Four Priorities for Private Education Sector
The framework focuses on wellbeing, future skills and national identity.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge has outlined four priorities for the emirate's private education sector, centred on national identity and values, student wellbeing, future-ready skills and the development of a high-quality and affordable education ecosystem.
The priorities were presented to more than 220 private school leaders during a Principals Meet-Up and are intended to support the development of future generations equipped for technological change while remaining connected to Emirati values and traditions.
Under the identity and values pillar, the department plans to strengthen students' sense of belonging and responsibility through initiatives including the National Art Expressions programme. Recent activities have included the Frontlines Tribute Initiative, which invited students to honour those serving the country through art, poetry and performances.
Student wellbeing will be addressed through revisions to in-school food policies, increased physical activity and expanded participation in sporting programmes, including the Abu Dhabi Schools and University Sport Championship. Support for elite athletes will continue through the All-Stars programme.
The future skills agenda places particular emphasis on Arabic and English literacy, with targeted assessments and interventions designed to improve academic outcomes. Financial literacy and life skills are also being prioritised.
Artificial intelligence education forms another component of the strategy, with the department introducing frameworks, curriculum resources and training programmes for students and teachers. The approach emphasises ethical use, human oversight, critical thinking and academic integrity.
