Al Qudra Road Bridge Cuts Intersection Wait by 85% in Dubai

A new 700-metre, four-lane bridge has opened on Al Qudra Road in Dubai, marking the latest milestone in a wider road upgrade aimed at easing congestion and improving traffic flow.

According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the bridge serves traffic heading towards Al Qudra City and has the capacity to accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour. The opening completes the main bridge configuration at the intersection with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, following the launch of the opposite bridge earlier this year serving traffic towards Umm Suqeim.

The RTA said the completed intersection upgrade will increase capacity from 7,800 to 19,400 vehicles per hour, while reducing average waiting times by 85%, from nearly seven minutes to around one minute. Additional side-ramp bridges are scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, creating free-flow traffic in all directions without interrupting the main carriageways.

The bridge forms part of the wider Al Qudra Road Development Project, which includes 4 kilometres of new bridges and the expansion of an 11.6-kilometre stretch of Al Qudra Road. Once complete, the project is expected to reduce average journey times by 70%, from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes, while serving residential communities and developments used by more than 400,000 residents and visitors.
