Aramco Building in Riyadh Suffers Minor Damage in Attack Attempt
The ministry’s statement followed reports that the Saudi-led coalition intercepted missiles over Riyadh and southern regions earlier Sunday amid ongoing escalation with the Houthi group.
A Saudi Aramco administrative building in Riyadh sustained minor damage from falling shrapnel following an attempted attack on November 8th, according to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
The ministry said the relevant authorities responded to the incident and took the necessary measures after debris fell on the building.
The incident came as Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed multiple cruise and ballistic missiles targeting Riyadh and southern regions earlier on Sunday. Coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said two cruise missiles and a drone were intercepted over Riyadh and southern areas, while two ballistic missiles targeting the capital were also destroyed.
The interceptions form part of a broader series of missile and drone attacks launched by Yemen’s Houthi group against Saudi territory in recent weeks, including strikes targeting airports, energy infrastructure and other civilian facilities.
