Beekeeping Seasons Record Over 11,000 Hives in Royal Reserve

More than 11,400 beehives have been recorded during the latest Talh and Sidr beekeeping seasons at the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve, as part of efforts to promote sustainable beekeeping and protect the Kingdom's natural ecosystems.

According to the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority, a total of 11,439 beehives had been registered by early July under the reserve's regulated seasonal beekeeping programme.

The Talh season accounted for 8,050 beehives owned by 99 beekeepers, while the Sidr season recorded 3,389 beehives belonging to 55 beekeepers. The authority also noted the participation of a female beekeeper during the Talh season.

The seasonal programme is organised under a set of regulations designed to preserve vegetation cover while allowing the sustainable use of natural resources. According to the authority, the initiative supports environmental sustainability by balancing conservation efforts with responsible economic activity.

The authority added that the programme also aims to protect plant biodiversity, strengthen the beekeeping sector and increase the production of natural honey, while contributing to the development of local communities and encouraging the sustainable management of the reserve's natural resources.
