Dubai Just Opened a Virtual Courtroom Where AI Plays as Witness
Meta Legal Space lets law students conduct mock hearings with AI judges, witnesses and opposing counsel in real time.
Legaline Platform has launched an artificial intelligence-powered virtual courtroom simulator in Dubai, allowing law students and trainees to conduct mock hearings with virtual judges, witnesses and opposing counsel.
Unveiled as Meta Legal Space at the Dubai AI Festival on October 26th, the simulator runs hearings in real time rather than following predetermined scripts. It is designed for legal education and professional training, with cases covering litigation, arbitration and mediation.
The system uses artificial intelligence characters with distinct backgrounds, professions and behaviours that influence how they respond during questioning. Witnesses are programmed to withhold specific facts, requiring trainees to uncover them through cross-examination using the information contained in the case file.
Users can argue against an AI opposing lawyer or another student and conduct proceedings under UAE courts as well as the legal frameworks of the Dubai International Financial Centre and Abu Dhabi Global Market. Cases are developed by practising lawyers, with difficulty levels adjusted according to trainee experience.
The initial case library covers commercial, civil and employment disputes. After each session, trainees receive assessments on their arguments, procedural handling and responses to objections, while licensed practitioners can also supervise and evaluate performance.
Legaline Platform said Meta Legal Space will be made available to law schools and legal training providers across the region, with free registration for students. The simulator is being demonstrated at the Dubai AI Festival at Dubai World Trade Centre from October 26th to 27th.
