Egypt Set for Continental NFL Flag Football Championship in Kenya
The tournament features five participating countries for the first time.
Egypt will step onto the field once again as the NFL brings its continental Flag Championship to Nairobi from July 9th to 11th, marking the third edition of the tournament after stops in Nigeria and Egypt last year. This time, the Pharaohs arrive as one of five nations — alongside hosts Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa — competing across men's and women's national team competitions, a first for the tournament. A youth tournament will run alongside it, with U13 co-ed squads from each country also taking part. Flag football is heading to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, and Nairobi offers another chance for Egyptian players to sharpen up on the international stage before the sport's biggest moment yet. "It's been inspiring to watch flag football take off across the continent," said Brian Flinn, NFL senior vice president, Global Flag Football. "This event brings together the very best players alongside the next generation of talent from five countries, showcasing the pathways that exist for athletes to compete at the grassroots level all the way to representing their countries in international competitions." The week also includes a talent identification workout on July 11th, giving standout players — Egyptians included — a shot to be seen by NFL scouts as part of the league's wider NFL Africa program.
