Saudi Arabia Offers Five More Football Clubs for Privatization
The five football clubs announced for investors: Al-Riyadh, Al-Fateh, Al-Tai, Abha, and Al-Shoulla.
As part of Saudi Arabia's Clubs Investment and Privatization Project, the National Center for Privatization (NCP) announced five additional football clubs for investors: Al-Riyadh, Al-Fateh, Al-Tai, Abha, and Al-Shoulla. The Ministry of Sport has received over 80 expressions of interest from local and international buyers across 22 clubs.
The initiative began in 2023 when the Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquired 75% of Al Hilal, Al Ahli, Al Nassr, and Al Ittihad. Another phase in August 2024 led to three more fully privatized clubs, including Al Kholood, which became the first Saudi club with international ownership under the Harburg Group.
The project aims to boost Saudi Arabia's sports ecosystem by improving financial sustainability, efficiency, governance, and performance, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
