First National Forum for Content Creators in Egypt Planned for 2027

The Ministry of State for Information is preparing to hold the first national forum for Egyptian content creators and influencers in early 2027, following a consultation meeting with around 70 creators working across political, economic, social, cultural, scientific and technological fields.

Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan said the state is also working to issue a Freedom of Information law for all citizens and establish communication channels between creators and information sources within ministries and official entities, with the aim of enabling more fact-based digital content.

According to a ministry statement, the participating creators have a combined regular following of more than 500 million across social platforms. More than 40 participants spoke during the four-hour meeting, calling for professional recognition, clearer organisational frameworks and a more regular flow of official information.

Among the proposals was the creation of an umbrella organisation for content creators to establish professional and ethical standards and regulate relations with traditional media institutions. Participants also called for clearer criteria defining who qualifies as a professional content creator. Rashwan said creators could establish an association or umbrella body themselves under existing constitutional and legal frameworks, rather than through a government-created syndicate.

Other issues raised included access to production facilities and equipment, intellectual property protection in dealings with global digital platforms, difficulties filming in public spaces, professional identification cards and more advanced training. Participants also called for greater accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences and suggested closer collaboration between television channels and digital creators to reach younger audiences.
