Government Complaints System Handles 224,000 Cases in August
Around 181,000 complaints and requests were referred to relevant authorities in August, with housing and utilities leading the caseload.
Egypt’s Unified Government Complaints System handled around 224,000 complaints, requests and inquiries in August, with 181,000 cases, or 81%, referred to the relevant authorities.
Around 38,000 submissions were archived, while 5,000 remained pending further information or action. The August total was higher than May, when the system received 206,000 submissions and referred 172,000.
Ministries received 64% of referred cases, governorates 19%, and public authorities and universities 17%. Nine ministries, including interior, housing, health, social solidarity, electricity, education, communications, supply and petroleum, accounted for around 90% of ministry-level cases.
Housing and utilities recorded the largest combined caseload at about 35,900 submissions, including 23,400 housing-related cases and 12,500 concerning drinking water and wastewater. Healthcare accounted for around 16,400 cases, including urgent treatment requests and surgical waiting-list cases.
The Interior Ministry and affiliated bodies handled around 17,000 security-service complaints and requests, while electricity cases reached 12,700. Communications-related submissions totalled 9,720, environmental complaints 8,529, and employment-condition complaints within the state administrative apparatus 8,139.
The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade handled 6,824 submissions, including ration-card complaints and reports concerning subsidised bread and commodity pricing. The Consumer Protection Agency dealt with 2,463 complaints, while the National Food Safety Authority handled 448.
The Unified Government Complaints System was launched in 2017 and links ministries, governorates and service authorities through an electronic platform, with complaints submitted and tracked through an online portal, hotline and mobile application.
