Hessa Street Upgrade Cuts Travel Time to Four Minutes
The Dubai corridor now handles up to 16,000 vehicles an hour after expansion.
Travel time along Hessa Street has been reduced from 15 minutes to four following the completion of upgrade works, according to the Roads and Transport Authority. The upgraded corridor is now fully operational, with capacity doubled to 16,000 vehicles per hour after widening the 4.5 kilometre stretch from two to four lanes in each direction.
The project included upgrades to key junctions at Sheikh Zayed Road, First Al Khail Street, Al Asayel Street and Al Khail Road.
The corridor serves residential and commercial areas with a combined population exceeding 640,000, including Jumeirah Village Circle, Arjan, Dubai Science Park and Barsha Heights.
The next phase of the project will extend the corridor by a further 3 kilometres, linking Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The Roads and Transport Authority said traffic volumes across the connected network are expected to reach around 500,000 trips daily.
