New Dubai Authority to Help Raise Live Expectancies
The body will oversee therapies and innovations aimed at extending healthy life expectancy.
A new authority dedicated to healthy longevity has been established in Dubai to promote healthier lifestyles and create a regulatory framework for emerging therapies and technologies aimed at extending healthy life expectancy.
Chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, the Dubai Authority for Healthy Longevity will oversee the development and implementation of science-based regulations for longevity-related treatments and innovations.
According to the Dubai Media Office, the authority will introduce a risk-proportionate framework designed to support the growth of the sector while ensuring oversight of advanced therapeutic products and services.
Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, said the initiative is intended to create a regulated market for longevity technologies while attracting investment, specialised talent and technology transfer.
The move comes as advances in longevity research continue to accelerate. According to the World Health Organisation, global life expectancy averages 73 years, while healthy life expectancy in the UAE averages around 66 years before chronic conditions begin to affect quality of life.
