Old Rent Housing Application Deadline Extended to January 12th

The Egyptian Cabinet has extended the deadline for tenants covered by the old rent system to apply for alternative housing units until January 12th, 2027.

The extension keeps the application window open into the new year for eligible tenants seeking alternative accommodation under the government’s housing arrangements.

During the same meeting, the Cabinet also approved a 30% reduction in electricity consumption charges for users of coded meters for six months.

The government additionally directed a review of social assistance provided to residents of properties affected by development works on the Ring Road, with beneficiary cases to be reassessed according to existing regulations. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly also assigned a working group to follow up on recommendations addressing negative practices on social media platforms.
