Passenger Traffic at Alamein International Airport Climbs 57% in 2026

Alamein International Airport recorded a 57% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic in 2026, handling 266,600 passengers, according to an infographic released by the Egyptian Cabinet's Media Center.

The airport also saw the number of flights rise by around 26% to 3,190 compared to the previous year, reflecting growing demand as New Alamein continues to expand as a tourism and business destination.

According to the Cabinet, 15 airlines currently operate from Alamein International Airport, including Etihad Airways, Flydubai, FlyNas, Air Cairo and Saudia. The summer 2026 schedule has also introduced new services from TAROM of Romania, Interair of Poland, BHR of Bulgaria and Gulf Air, with the total number of operating airlines expected to reach 26 by the end of the season.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said development and upgrade works at the airport are continuing to accommodate rising passenger numbers and support tourism and investment. The improvements are also intended to prepare the airport to host the second Alamein International Aerospace Exhibition in September 2026, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, the Egyptian Air Force and the Egyptian Space Agency.
