Online Service Launches for Family Lawsuit Records & Rulings

Egypt’s Public Prosecution has launched an electronic enquiry service allowing citizens to check family lawsuit data and rulings through its official online portal.

Access is restricted to each user’s own case records because of the sensitive personal information involved in family lawsuits. Identity is verified through the national digital identity system on the Digital Egypt platform, developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

The Public Prosecution said the system is designed to expand electronic access to judicial information while limiting users to the data permitted under the service’s rules and procedures.

The new tool forms part of a wider digital transformation programme launched in October 2021 with the aim of developing a nationwide “zero-paper” case-handling system.

Other digital services have been added in recent months. In July, case-tracking tools became available through the Ana Vodafone app, allowing users to check family and criminal rulings, request certified case documents and manage traffic fines from their phones.

An online criminal record certificate service for Egyptians abroad was also introduced in June through the Digital Egypt platform in cooperation with the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior.

Earlier digitalisation efforts included the introduction of online judicial petitions and complaints in September 2020, which reduced processing times from around two weeks to less than four hours.
