Play971 Launches UAE's First Licensed Sports Wagering Platform
The UAE-based online gaming operator has gone live in several emirates ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Play971, a UAE-based online gaming operator, has launched what it describes as the country's first licensed sports wagering and internet gaming platform, allowing eligible users to place wagers on international sporting events and access online gaming content.
According to the platform, the service is available only within the UAE and is currently inaccessible in Dubai. Geoblocking measures are used to enforce local regulations, with users in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah able to access the site.
Play971 said availability is determined at the emirate level and that operations are limited to jurisdictions where local frameworks permit the service. Users must be at least 21 years old to register. Access requires a valid Emirates ID, phone number and address, while the platform uses precise location services to verify users. Virtual private networks and proxy services are not supported.
Football markets linked to the FIFA World Cup are already live, alongside basketball markets covering the National Basketball Association. Available wagers include match outcomes, goals, individual halves and corner kicks. The platform also offers wagering on horse racing, cricket, tennis, futsal, ice hockey and baseball.
In addition to sports wagering, Play971 provides casino-style games and live dealer experiences streamed from a studio licensed by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in Abu Dhabi.
According to the company, any future expansion will be subject to local regulatory approvals and applicable legal frameworks.
