Public Sector Minimum Wage Targeted to Reach EGP 15,000 by 2030

The public sector minimum monthly wage is targeted to reach EGP 15,000 by the end of the 2029/30 fiscal year, up from EGP 8,000 as of July 2026. Around 4.5 million employees across the state’s administrative apparatus are expected to be covered by the increase.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced the target during the closing session of Egypt Forum 2026 in the New Capital, attended by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He outlined priorities for the next three years including higher economic growth, increased production, job creation, higher incomes and improved public services.

Madbouly said preparations have been completed for a national economic transformation programme with specific targets and implementation measures. The programme is expected to be presented for public consultation within the next two months.

The government also plans to continue social protection programmes, expand the Universal Health Insurance System and complete the second and third phases of the Decent Life initiative to improve infrastructure and services in rural areas.

Education plans include expanding technological and applied universities and aligning educational outcomes more closely with labour market needs. Madbouly also acknowledged the economic and living-cost pressures faced by Egyptians in recent years, saying the government aims to improve incomes and services over the coming period.

Egypt Forum 2026 was held in the New Capital from October 19th to 24th to review development over the past 12 years and discuss priorities for the next three.
