Riyadh Airport Begins ‘Silent Airport’ Rollout at Terminal 5
General announcements are being reduced at King Khalid International Airport, with passengers directed to screens, WhatsApp and other digital channels.
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has begun the first phase of its ‘Silent Airport’ project at Terminal 5, reducing terminal-wide public address announcements and limiting them mainly to departure gates.
Under the new setup, general flight and boarding information will be delivered through digital screens and other channels rather than frequent announcements across the terminal. Essential operational messages, including boarding and final calls, will continue at departure gates where needed.
Passengers can monitor flight status and gate information on screens throughout Terminal 5, through the airport’s official website and via its WhatsApp channel. Terminal signage will continue to provide directions and boarding guidance, while the airport’s Ask Me team will be available to assist travellers in person.
