Riyadh & Diriyah Schools Extend Remote Learning to October 22nd

Schools across Riyadh and Diriyah will continue remote learning until October 22nd, with students, teachers and administrative staff remaining off campus for a second consecutive week.

The Riyadh Education General Administration said lessons will continue through the Madrasati platform and other approved systems. Schools in the capital initially switched to remote learning on October 11th.

The extension follows a series of attacks and interceptions affecting Riyadh and other parts of Saudi Arabia. A missile strike on King Khalid International Airport on October 10th killed 12 people and injured 309, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation. A separate strike on Terminal 4 the following day killed a Pakistani national and injured 11 others.

The Saudi-led coalition later said it had intercepted three drones over the southern region and Riyadh, two cruise missiles over the Red Sea and a ballistic missile over Yanbu. Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said King Khalid International Airport had been targeted at least 20 times during October.

Riyadh schools had also moved online from September 27th to October 1st following earlier interceptions near the capital. Alfaisal University and Prince Sultan University have informed students that classes will also remain remote during the current week.
