The Transport General Authority reported a 129% rise from 183.3 million in 2019.
Public transport usage across Saudi Arabia reached 420.6 million passengers in 2025, marking a 129% increase from 183.3 million in 2019, according to the Transport General Authority.
The authority reported a 61% rise between 2024 and 2025, with passenger numbers continuing to grow into 2026. In the first quarter of the year, ridership increased by 20% compared to the same period in 2025.
The update coincided with World Public Transport Day on April 17th, highlighting ongoing developments in the Kingdom’s transport sector.
Growth has been supported by the expansion of city bus networks, which now operate across 17 cities and governorates, compared to four in 2019. The authority said the fleets are equipped with modern technologies aimed at improving connectivity and service reliability
Across other transport modes, taxi trips exceeded 377 million between 2019 and 2025, representing a 15% increase over the period. Ride-hailing services recorded more than 548 million trips, up 64%.
Automated rail systems also reported significant usage in 2025. The King Abdulaziz International Airport train in Jeddah served over 34 million passengers, while the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University train in Riyadh carried more than 3 million.
