Saudi Consumer Spending Reached SAR 150.1 Billion in March 2026
Point-of-sale activity rose modestly while cash withdrawals declined, as digital payments continued to expand.
Consumer spending in Saudi Arabia reached SAR 150.1 billion in March 2026, marking a 1% increase compared to SAR 148 billion in the same month a year earlier, according to data from the Saudi Central Bank.
Point-of-sale transactions totalled approximately SAR 66.1 billion during the month, also up 1% year-on-year, with 997.2 million transactions processed across 2.4 million payment devices.
Cash withdrawals declined by 11% to SAR 48.6 billion, carried out through around 14,500 automated teller machines across 125.1 million transactions.
E-commerce spending recorded the strongest growth, with transactions conducted via Mada cards reaching SAR 35.4 billion in March 2026, an increase of 28% compared to the same period last year. These transactions were carried out across 200.3 million payments.
According to the Saudi Central Bank, total consumer spending figures combine cash withdrawals, point-of-sale activity, and e-commerce transactions via Mada.
Point-of-sale transactions include payments made using debit and credit cards at retail outlets such as shopping centres, pharmacies, and other commercial locations.
