Saudi Ports Authority Handles 14.5 Million Tons in April 2026
Throughput dropped 34.6%, with declines in containers, vessels, and passenger traffic, while livestock imports increased.
The Saudi Ports Authority reported handling 14,532,970 tons of cargo in April 2026, marking a 34.58% decrease compared to the same month in 2025.
General cargo totalled 514,243 tons during the month, while overall activity across key indicators recorded declines year-on-year.
Container throughput fell by 18.65% to 508,801 TEUs, down from 625,428 TEUs in April 2025. Imported containers declined by 9.96% to 233,586 TEUs, while exports dropped more sharply by 37.89% to 145,190 TEUs. Transshipment containers edged down by 1.68% to 130,026 TEUs. Passenger traffic through Saudi ports decreased by 34.27% to 70,752 passengers, compared to 107,638 passengers a year earlier.
Operational activity also slowed, with vessel calls falling by 14% to 1,192 ships, down from 1,386 in April 2025. Vehicle throughput dropped by 43.40% to 53,938 vehicles, compared to 95,300 vehicles in the same period last year.
In contrast, livestock imports recorded an increase of 21.80%, reaching 830,688 heads, up from 682,022 in April 2025.
