Sheikh Mohammed Releases Book of Life Lessons Titled 'The Letters'
The new collection features 26 letters reflecting on six decades of public service, beginning with one addressed to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has released ‘The Letters’, the second part of his ‘Lessons from Life’ series.
The book brings together 26 letters drawing on nearly six decades of public service, with messages addressed to his children and family, members of his team, citizens of the UAE and readers more broadly.
The collection opens with a letter to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whom Sheikh Mohammed describes as his “brother, friend and companion on the journey”.
Across the letters, Sheikh Mohammed reflects on leadership, service, decisions, projects and lessons accumulated over the course of his public career. He writes that while cities, institutions and infrastructure can all be built, “what matters most is the spirit of the nation”.
The book is framed as a record intended to outlast the moments that produced it. “Our years pass… But ideas grow and endure,” Sheikh Mohammed writes, adding that the letters are meant to leave something useful for those who will carry public responsibility after his generation.
‘The Letters’ follows ‘Lessons from Life’ as a companion volume, continuing the same autobiographical and reflective approach through direct correspondence rather than conventional memoir.
