UAE Government Challenge Launches With Focus on Assistive AI

The UAE government has launched an Annual Government Challenge designed to encourage government employees and teams to develop new solutions for public services, operations and government projects.

Announced on November 2nd, 2026 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the initiative will begin with a focus on assistive artificial intelligence.

The first edition will recognise nine leading government projects and teams. Sheikh Mohammed said the challenge is intended to encourage unconventional ideas and practical solutions that can improve the way government services and operations are delivered.

The announcement coincided with the launch of UAE Innovation Month, with Sheikh Mohammed calling on government employees to move beyond conventional approaches and develop projects capable of creating measurable impact.

The Annual Government Challenge is expected to become a recurring platform for testing and recognising new ideas across government, with future editions set to focus on different areas of public-sector innovation.
