Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has declared Thursday, June 18th, 2026, an official paid holiday to celebrate Islamic New Year.
The date replaces the corresponding Gregorian calendar date of the second day of Muharram 1448 AH, as determined by the lunar sighting.
The holiday applies to employees in ministries, government departments, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, public enterprise sector companies, and private sector companies.
Examination schedules will remain unchanged and will proceed according to the dates set by the relevant authorities.
