Volunteer Divers Join Seabed Cleanup at Aseer’s Umm Al Qasha Beach
The Border Guard-led initiative brought volunteer divers together to remove waste from the seabed and promote marine environmental awareness.
A seabed cleanup has been carried out at Umm Al Qasha beach in Saudi Arabia’s Aseer Region, with volunteer divers taking part alongside the Border Guard.
The initiative focused on removing waste and debris from the seabed while raising awareness around the protection of marine environments and encouraging community participation in coastal conservation.
The cleanup follows other environmental initiatives in Aseer. In February 2026, the regional branch of the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification planted 1,000 mangrove seedlings as part of World Wetlands Day activities, with more than 300 volunteers also taking part in coastal cleanups and environmental awareness sessions.
Aseer’s Border Guard has also previously carried out similar marine work. In September 2025, personnel and local volunteers cleaned Al-Qahmah Beach and its seabed as part of a campaign focused on protecting coastal environments and encouraging volunteerism.
