Egyptian Experimentalist Yunis to Perform in Romania November 1st

Kafr El-Dawar-born producer and composer, Yunis, will be taking his new album ‘Ninety Nine Eyes’ to Romania at The Sonic Turn party on November 1st.

The Egyptian has built quite a reputation in the underground electronic scene locally and internationally through his distinctive productions, often deconstructing and reconstructing traditional Egyptian folklore and Sufism within an experimental, trance-based electronic framework. In his latest offering, he brings zar and takhmira into live ritual sets, layering polyrhythms, vocals and textural sound design to trace collective memory and spiritual energy.

Yunis will be sharing the bill with Swiss-Lebanese group, Pared, who are known for their fusion of shaabi with psychedelic rock and free jazz. The event will also feature a live performance by Al.Ehtifal, an improvisation project of a collective of artists from Romania, Syria, Iran and India.

The event will take place at Club Control in Bucharest. For tickets booking head to the link in their Instagram bio.
